Experience

Senior Engineering Manager (Jun 2022~ Jun 2023) Legion Technologies, Palo Alto, CA

As a Senior Engineering Manager at Legion, I was responsible for delivering highly available, cloud-native time attendance solutions for 30+ Fortune 500 enterprise customers. I worked closely with the CTO in designing performant solutions for the mission-critical systems the team was building. I managed a highly productive team of 15 engineers in building high visibility features for pay-file processing/delivery and for aggregation of millions of employee time-clocks data every minute. I ensured high system uptime, implemented monitoring systems and managed three product delivery teams. I was responsible for  the Time & Attendance, Payfile, Legion Timeclock and Mobile Clockin teams.

I worked closely with engineers to support their growth and actively participated in the day-to-day, including technical design, architecture and code reviews. Built out our monitoring and observability initiatives.  Collaborated with product and customer delivery teams to handle timesheet and payfile escalations within SLA. Initiated performance improvement initiatives that led to 80% improvement in processing times. Finally, I built a strong in-house engineering team from the ground up.

Software Engineering Manager (Aug 2020 ~ Jun 2022) Legion Technologies, Palo Alto, CA

As a Software Engineering Manager, I ran agile software delivery processes and accomplished product roadmap milestones effectively. I collaborated with product management on the roadmap, release planning and delivered customer commitments with high quality. I established performance testing benchmarks, increased automation coverage, and reduced bug backlog by 90% through efficient bug triage. Additionally, I built a strong development team, resolved technical issues, and provided growth opportunities for team members.

Principal Software Engineer/Engineering Manager (Apr 2019 ~ May2020) Altruist, Venice, CA

As Engineering Manager and Principal Engineer, I built the brokerage platform, oversaw hiring and team development. I led the architecture and design of the platform, integrating third-party APIs for trading, account opening, transfers, and portfolio management. I utilized technologies like Spring Boot, Postgres, Java 11, Redis, and AWS SQS. Additionally, I conducted 1:1 sessions, coaching and mentoring engineers of varying skill levels.

Senior Engineer II (Feb 2016 – Mar 2019) Ticketmaster, Hollywood, CA 

Built distributed API services for handling traffic bursts during event on-sales, including inventory summary aggregation and distress event summary streams. Scaled and upgraded distributed data processing systems for user scoring and developed an abuse prevention system for bot activity detection. Launched API integration products for partners like Facebook and Spotify for integrating with Ticketmaster events content and inventory data. Designed and implemented APIs for near real-time ticket inventory status and event file streaming. Integrated with Facebook Graph API for auto publishing event content and designed a system for inventory monitoring. Implemented real-time event section aggregates and leader election algorithm for aggregate generation. Set up infrastructure for log monitoring.

Lead Software Engineer (Aug 2014 – Jan 2016) Aerserv LLC, Irvine,CA

At Aerserv, LLC, an ad technology company in the mobile mediation market, I played a key role in implementing scalable and robust ad-serving platform components for the ad-server/RTB team. This included implementing core components for Real Time Bidding (RTB) and scaling the system to handle up to 500k requests per minute. I also worked on a POC for an ETL data pipeline using Apache Storm and AWS Kinesis, developed an endpoint management tool using Spring MVC 4 and Hibernate 4, and implemented endpoint filtering within the RTB system. Additionally, I implemented optimizations to reduce latency in auction calls and created a dynamic AWS auto scaling tool based on Cloudwatch metrics for Real Time Bidding systems.

Principal Software Engineer (Jun 2010 – Jan 2014) LowermyBills Inc, Los Angeles, CA

Working in the platform/architecture team, I contributed to the design and implementation of a marketing keywords bidding platform using Google Adwords API and MSN Adcenter API. I evaluated Device Detection for traffic routing and integrated AppDynamics Performance Monitoring system with Splunk. Additionally, I designed and developed a project involving the migration of a core legacy PL SQL matching engine for the financial services lead generation vertical, utilizing Spring framework, Hibernate, MongoDB, Apache Zookeeper, and a custom EHCache implementation.
